Hey, Cis! is a weekly head-on conversation about current affairs and gender-based issues affecting trans and non-binary youth, students and adults within our Maritime community.
We take on difficult topics; breaking us out of the binary, smashing stigma and fostering greater connection between our cisgender community and trans, gender creative and non-binary community.

Q Review LGBTQ Music Project (Q Review) founder Kenney Fitzpatrick is working with local Halifax, Nova Scotia community station CIOE 97.5 FM to present a new weekly radio show dedicated to presenting the music from LGBTQ artists titled OUT LOUD.
Kenney Fitzpatrick of Q*Review and the new radio show, OUT LOUD, produced locally here in Nova Scotia, is all about finding queer artists and championing them on his new radio show. He says, gender fluidity in music right now is taking off in many amazing ways. Kenney recommends Dorian Electra who Kenney says is, 'I think Dorian Electra is one the greatest things happening out there right now....so much happening (with their music)."
Queer music is crushing the isolation some queer youth are experiencing across Canada.
Visibility, representation and lyrics that are so relatable, can be a lifeline for youth who may be experiencing isolation, micro-aggressions - especially for those living in rural areas.
"When you are in a dark place and you think there is nowhere in the world for you and suddenly you come across a young guy; young girl; young trans person; young BIPOC person; who's singing and speaking (in a way) that resonates with you -- you can be in a really dark place and that can actually pull you out of it," says Fitzpatrick.

When it comes to helping breaking down the barriers many queer artists face:
"There's a lot that can be done...we can yell as much as we want too... but we can start with ourselves."
Barriers for Queer musicians:
Funding for projects
Venues: 'There's certain places when they're touring, where (artists) are touring where they feel they may need to change pronouns within a song, for safety. 'That's a huge barrier."
