Ep #9: How to combat the hectic holidays

Hey, Cis! is a weekly head-on conversation about current affairs and gender-based issues affecting trans and non-binary youth, students and adults within our Maritime community.

We take on difficult topics; breaking us out of the binary, smashing stigma and fostering greater connection between our cisgender community and trans, gender creative and non-binary community.

Hey, Cis; Hey, who?

Cis = latin preface for 'on the same side as.

Cisgender is someone whose gender identity aligns with their sex as assigned at birth.

Cisgender is someone who has the ability to make the world safer, brighter and more inclusive for trans people young and old. Cisgender is someone who needs to be an intentional part of the conversation -- so let's talk.

Gift Giving Thoughts:

Inclusive Books: Check out 'My Rainbow', published in Fall 2020 - it is literally hot-off-the-press.

This amazing book features a lovely little girl who is apart of the BIPOC trans community and she is autistic. It provides great visibility through a touching story written by a mother-daughter team.

We love this book and love that it's available locally. Check it out if you're in Halifax at The Lemonade General Store on Young St. in Halifax, NS.

Also a brand new store - so support local!  They kindly donated one of these books to our Inclusion Library.

Isaac and I also chat about awesome local stores with great gift giving ideas supporting 2SLGBTQ+ community members.  Once of our faves is Cape and Cowl Comics based in Lower Sackville.  It's filled with amazing books, comics, room decor ideas, anime....so much!

Holiday diverse shows and movies also made the grade this epidode.

Thanks for listening and joining us in 2020. And thank you to everyone who wrote in and shared how you're spending your holiday season. We loved hearing about it and sharing it with listeners.

Wishing you all a safe holiday season with the ones you love the most.
