I love this story.
It's about children and a children's organization - one that was in serious need of financial support - standing up for what's right. Greenbacks or no greenbacks.
Trans lives matters and transgender girls being apart of Girl Scouts matters.
Greenbacks were a paper currency (printed in green on the back) issued by the United States during the American Civil War. When I read about a mystery donor or mystery organization willing to donate a substantial contribution like $100,000 with a stipulation that hurts and excludes a marginalized population of children - yes children - well it feels a little like war.
“Girl Scouts is for every girl,” Ferland told the magazine. “And every girl should have the opportunity to be a Girl Scout if she wants to.”
But love and good will prevailed. Inclusion prevailed and the smiles above say it all.
